CASITA VERDE IBIZA

Dining anywhere in Spain is somewhat of a challenge for vegetarians, as for vegans… well good luck explaining that one. Ibiza is no different, that is until relatively recently. The islands bohemian roots have provided the basis for a culture of alternative living, a culture of healthy and sustainable living. The hippies have been here for quite some time but they have become a lot more industrious of late. We have a few long standing establishments in our selections below but most of the mentions are to new upcoming healthy organic and vegetarian eateries.

Out Of Time People

Out Of Time People is one of the original vegan and vegetarian restaurants in town.  The proprietors greet you with a warm smile. The quaint little spot just off Plaza Del Parque looks out onto the walls of Dalt Vila. They serve raw food, juices, salads and lots of veggie options. A great healthy option.

Wild Beets

Raw, vegan and plant based cuisine in a tranquil environment right in the centre of Santa Gertrudis, hidden behind a natural bamboo fence. Wild Beets is beautifully decorated in funky Ibiza style, using recycled materials and artwork. The large wooden tables and chairs make it the perfect place to set up your office for the morning or enjoy a group meal in the evenings. Serving nutritious breakfasts of great choices like rehab shots of ginger, rosemary, milk thistle, lime and agave to rehydrate and fight inflammation from the inside out, or freshly pressed wheat grass drinks as well as fruit salads and cereals. Cold pressed juices like beetroot, cucumber, celery & cayenne or cashew nuts, agave, cinnamon, vanilla and filtered water are an interesting option too but as you might guess, these will set you back just over 10€ a pop so be prepared! Follow a healthy breakfast with an even healthier lunch and go for a zucchini and carrot spaghetti with a pad Thai sauce, a three Dip Platter of chickpea hummus, raw almond hummus and baba ghanoush with crudités and homemade gluten free bread or of course a superfood salad to really get you grooving! If pizza is your passion, why not try a cholesterol free version and go for the raw pizza with a base made from zucchini, walnuts and olive oil, topped with marinated mushrooms, tomato, macadamia and cashew cheese and spinach. Wild Beets is also open for evening meals and has a great take away service and use only fresh & organic seasonal produce.

Biokarma

This tiny vegan deli sits one table of two in it’s modest surroundings. Their primary business is take away food which they do very well. The make fantastic vegan wraps and hamburgers for less than the price of a Burger King meal. It pays to eat healthily in more ways than one.

Aubergine

With a motto like “from farm to table”, you can’t really go wrong in Ibiza, especially in the North. This stunning, reformed farm house is a gorgeous setting for a Mediterranean restaurant. Attention to detail can be seen in the décor and in the beautiful garden. The cosy interior has various small dining areas making the winter setting a very romantic place to dine. Aubergine Ibiza uses fresh ingredients from their very own vegetable garden to create delicious natural & organic vegetarian and vegan delights. Try their caramelized pumpkin salad with feta cheese, hearty cream of vegetable soups, organic wines, fresh fruit juices, smoothies or yummy desserts. There are meat options on the menu too and this very peaceful restaurant is family friendly. Aubergine Ibiza have recently added an on site store by the well known island brand, World Family Ibiza, so make a day of it and enjoy some retail therapy after lunch. It’s a little on the pricey side but with veggies hand picked for you just minutes before you enjoy them, what do you expect?!

Ecocentro

Ecocentro is a vibrant outdoor restaurant right in the middle of Santa Gertrudis, it’s location, it’s ambiance and it’s live entertainment put this restaurant right at the higher end of our price limit at Save Ibiza but we still feel it offers good value for money and we want to make sure we include as many organic, eco friendly and vegetarian restaurants as possible. Furthermore, we think Ecocentro is a fine dining alternative to the more casual vegetarian dining options the island offers and thus deservedly earns it’s place in our guide. Ecocentro is an experience, in addition to the restaurant there is a shop and a home delivery service .

Casita Verde

Arguably the most idyllic restaurant setting in Ibiza, Casita Verde lies hidden in the campo of St Jose. The road it sits on is barely marked on google maps but rest assured it is there, just before the crest of a windy hill which takes you out of the San Jose valley into San Raphael. Casita Verde or Green Heart as it is also known is a non profit educational for sustainable living and permaculture. Each sunday they open their doors to the public to help fund their eco project. This is a unique chance to experience the tranquil surrounding and buenos ondas of the Green Heart. This is a very special experience and we highly recommend it for those seeking higher vibrational experiences on the island.
