Apart from the handful of crazies who arrive in Ibiza with the plan of staying up until they leave, the beginning of anyone’s holiday experience is deciding on where you’re going to stay. Important considerations include whether you’re going to be out and about most of the time or lazing round the pool, whipping up your own BBQ or self medicating at the hotel buffet. Whether your aim is apartment or villa, hotel or hostel it’s great to start the process knowing you’re going to get great bang for your buck. To make life easier here are some of our top picks. Don’t worry if your favourite is already booked for 2016, browse through our SLEEP section or contact us for more suggestions. Don’t miss our discounted villas offers for September.
Vara de Rey Guest House (Casa de Hespuedes) Ibiza Town
Ibiza Town is the pulsating heart of life on the island, the largest and busiest enclave all year round which truly does have something for everyone. Medieval architecture, world renowned restaurants, historic and ultra modern bars and stunning views, all being enjoyed by a very international crowd.
Located a few minutes from the port and Old Town is the Vara de Rey Guest House. The building oozes charm, the staff are always smiling and the rooms fit their shabby chic reputation to a tee. This is an excellent place to explore and local area as well as a base to go further afield. The public transport system in Ibiza may be known to be fairly basic at best but the bus station a few minutes walk from the guest house is the best connected spot available. The nearest beaches are Talamanca to the north and Figueretes can be reached by foot in around 15 minutes heading south. Expect to pay €40-120 a night depending on time of year.

Can Pere – Roca Lisa/Santa Eulalia
The last few years has seen strong growth in ‘agroturismo’ accommodation in Ibiza. Fueled by a change in the law, these countryside hotels offer a combination of agriculture and tourism, each place having to offer a minimum amount of working farmland, usually fruit trees, almonds, olives and expansive vegetable patches. The whole idea is to promote awareness of the agricultural heritage of Ibiza as well as the maintenance of its natural beauty. The results have been largely positive albeit many of the newer destinations cater for the more exclusive end of the market.
In terms of value for money our current pick of the crop is Can Pere. Located around a 10 minute drive from Ibiza Town, the hotel is a charming 19th century traditional finca set in it’s own expansive and very pretty grounds. Staying here starts at less that 100€ per person per night for most months and the surroundings, ambience and facilities easily justify the cost. For those wanting get to know places new and old around the island a car is a must. Alternatively, enjoy a cocktail by the pool by day and a romantic dinner at the restaurant in the evening, leaving the stresses of every day life at the gates.

Villa Tunicu – San Augustin
The great thing about renting a villa in Ibiza is, well everything, as long you find the right place. A week or two living the high life can be surprisingly kind to the wallet. Spain is one of the cheapest places in Europe for supermarket shopping, especially for alcohol and what could be better than floating in the pool listening to a playlist of your favourite music while the coals on the barbecue reach the right temperature for cooking.
Villa Tunicu is one of our favourite holiday villas offering real value for money. Sea views usually come at a serious premium but at this lovely property you get a double whammy at no extra cost. Tunicu can sleep up to 12 people and with a weekly cost of between €2500-4500 it’s an absolute steal. For beach lovers some of the prettiest beaches are less than a 10 minute drive away, Cala Gracioneta and Cala Salada are world class. Central San Antonio is also only 5 minutes away, check our guide to the resort for plenty of recommendations. If you’re looking for some time off the self catering then Sa Soca and Chimichurri are worth a visit, or head to the village of San Jose and have breakfast at La Gourmadiese or lunch at Raco Verde.
