If breakfast really is the most important meal of the day then we don’t want you wasting it on a soggy bowl of cornflakes in your hotel room. Get out there and try some of these delicious cafes which will set you up for the day and feeling ready to take on everything Ibiza can throw at you!
La Paloma Bakery – San Lorenzo
Start your day surrounded by beauty in the lush gardens of orange and lemon trees that encircle the Paloma Bakery terrace whilst you enjoy a leisurely al fresco breakfast. The Café forms part of the larger La Paloma restaurant, but has a different menu and vibe, serving up an array of lovingly prepared snacks, teas, freshly brewed coffee, juices and smoothies. They cater for vegetarian and vegans, with beautifully presented vegan cakes and tarts often getting whipped up in the kitchen and varying day by day. If you are staying for a heartier brunch then the salads and sandwiches are a work of art in themselves, and combine a fusion of Mediterranean, Asian, Middle-Eastern and North African influences.
Rita’s Cantina – San Antonio
A firm favourite amongst the locals, this café/restaurant is brimming with a cosmopolitan crowd all year round, which is always a good sign. The breakfasts are straight forward and simple, ranging from simple scrambled eggs on toast to a full English to Yoghurt and Muesli. There is something to suit everyone and at very economic prices! You can easily while away a morning over one of their famed breakfast smoothies or juices and watch the world go by in the busy marina.
Plaisir – Santa Gertrudis
This innovative and affordable restaurant in Santa Gertrudis will have you coming back at all hours of the day to sample their menu, but they are truly renowned for their brunches. Home-made pastries and freshly baked tarts, chocolate filled crepes, mouthwatering eggs on freshly made bread…if all this hasn’t got your tastebuds tingling then I don’t know what will. On top of the beautiful presentation, they also make their own gluten-free alternatives to bread and crackers so that everyone is catered for. Try a boozy brunch washed down with a Michelada (A spicy Mexican cocktail) or keep it healthy with a cleansing green juice. Often your breakfast will be accompanied with live music from local artists, giving the place a lovely atmosphere.
Croissant Show – Ibiza Town
If you like croissants then the delicious freshly-baked pastries filled with all manner of different flavours should hit the spot. If you like shows, then owner Andres will provide a touch of pizzaz to your breakfast with his outgoing character and recognizable moustache. So famed is this moustache that he is even known just as “Bigotes” to his friends, and you will feel right at home on his friendly terrace. Right at the heart of Ibiza town, this is the perfect spot to enjoy some sweet treats and freshly brewed coffee whilst people watching in the colourful crowd. The café opens every day at 6am so you can get your first sobering coffee of the day straight out of the club and enjoy sun rising amongst other hazy partygoers!
